The Peterborough Sport and Wellness Centre is a community-based recreation centre offering gymnasium and aquatics programs and services. As a Building Monitor, you will play a vital role in supporting daily operations by ensuring the cleanliness and upkeep of the facility. Your responsibilities will include maintaining and cleaning washrooms, change rooms, common areas, fitness spaces, gyms, and the pool area. You will also assist with general building maintenance tasks such as painting, gardening, and snow/ice removal, including salting and shoveling as needed. Additionally, you will be responsible for event setup and takedown in multipurpose rooms, as well as supporting program and recreation monitors with the preparation for drop-in programs by setting up and taking down equipment such as nets, bikes, weights, and grandstands. You will also assist with crowd control and general monitoring during events.

Qualifications

The Building Monitor position requires candidates with excellent verbal communication skills and customer service abilities. The ideal candidate will be trustworthy, dependable, and professional in their interactions. Knowledge of proper cleaning procedures, maintenance practices, and physical labor is essential, as well as familiarity with the Occupational Health & Safety Act and the Workplace Hazardous Material Information System (WHMIS).  Preference will be given to those with current First Aid/CPR/AED certification. Experience working in a fitness center or having fitness-related education or certification would be an asset.

This position will have flexible schedules including early mornings, evenings, and weekends. 

Hourly Rate

$17.20
