Residential Mechanical & HVAC Inspector

Job Details

Interpret and enforce the Ontario Building Code and relevant municipal bylaws by reviewing Part 9 plans for compliance with Part 7 (Plumbing Code) and inspecting newly constructed plumbing installations in Part 3 and 9 building structures and installations under Part 11 (renovations) within the municipality prior and subsequent to the issuance of permits.  Work with HVAC installers and manufacturers to ensure their understanding and compliance with regulations. Investigate complaints and initiate prosecution for non-compliance, when necessary. 

Qualifications 

Knowledge and experience normally associated with a certification as a Master Plumber (equivalent completion of a two-year college diploma). Must be qualified as a plumbing systems inspector with the Ontario Plumbing Inspectors Association and a Certified Building Code Official with the Ontario Building Officials Association.  Must have excellent communications skills and the ability to defuse emotionally charged situations and deal with objections in a professional non-confrontational manner. Requires a combination of up to four years previous and on-the job experience, with a minimum of three years previous experience in the plumbing/ HVAC field. Requires valid driver’s license & vehicle to perform the duties of the job. 

Salary

$81,608.80- $85,194.20 per year.
