Accessible Van Service
You can qualify to take the Peterborough Transit's Accessible Van Service if you cannot take the regular buses due to a mobility impairment. The service is provided door to door and all trips are made by making a reservation. Our buses can accommodate wheelchairs and scooters that don't exceed 36” (90 cm) x 48” (120 cm). Our Accessible Van Service lifts can accommodate a maximum combined weight of 700 pounds (317 kg).
You must be registered as an Accessible Van Service user before making a reservation for a ride. Read this section carefully for information on how the Accessible Van Service works.

Cancellations
As soon as you know it is necessary to cancel a reservation, phone 705-745-5801 giving your name, address and trip date. Early notice may permit other passengers to use your reservation time. Drivers cannot accept cancellations.
Failure to cancel
Should you forget to cancel, or the driver arrives and you are not there, the driver will submit a "No Show" report. In fairness to others, it could be necessary to discontinue service to passengers who frequently forget to cancel their reservations.
Assistance
Drivers will escort passengers to and from street level doors. If there is more than one step at departure or destination places, wheelchair users must arrange to have another person available to assist.
Persons who assist passengers may ride upon payment of the regular fare, and should be booked at the same time as the passenger. If a passenger requires a support person, you can apply for a support person pass that will allow your support person to ride for free. Remember to book a space for your support person and that there is only one support person permitted per passenger.
