Creativity, Community, and Inspiration at the Art Gallery of Peterborough

Peterborough, ON – Explore a world of creativity through exhibitions and educational programming for all ages at the Art Gallery of Peterborough (AGP).

"The Art Gallery of Peterborough is a true cultural cornerstone of our city—offering a space where creativity, community and inspiration come together. The Art Gallery’s commitment to education through its youth camps and engaging adult workshops ensures that art remains accessible and enriching for us all. The City is proud to support the AGP as it fosters connection and artistic expression in Peterborough,” said Mayor Jeff Leal.

Current and Upcoming Exhibitions

A photography exhibit by Dr. Roberta Bondar is currently on view at the AGP until April 13.

Patterns & Parallels illustrates the plight of migratory birds on display using three different perspectives-space, aerial and surface. The show has been extremely well attended by visitors from across the region since it opened in January and has welcomed many local school groups.

The upcoming exhibition at the AGP is the Museum of Closetry, by artist Dr. Spencer J. Harrison, which opens April 26, 2025. A space of contradictions, the Museum of Closetry is a fictional museum imagining queer history as abundant and visible, reclaiming cultural gaps and archival silence.

Summer Camps and Educational Programming

The AGP offers year-round educational programs for all ages.

Registration is currently open for the AGP's popular Summer Art Camps. Focused on teaching new skills, exploring art fundamentals and finding joy in creativity, there is something for children of all skill levels throughout the summer months.

One of the gallery’s new educational offerings is Adult Art Camps, open to those 19 years old and up. These two-hour sessions include classes on a range of artistic mediums. Coming up are classes on mixed media and collage, working with clay and sculpture, and watercolour painting.

“These have been a huge success,” said Debby Keating, Board of Directors, Art Gallery of Peterborough. “I was fortunate to participate in the eco-printing and tie-dying camp. It was fun experimenting with various printmaking techniques and I appreciated seeing the variety of designs that were created.”

Participants can register in person at the Art Gallery of Peterborough, or online at agp.on.ca.
