Help for Homeowners

Funding is limited to help homeowners afford repairs/upgrades and to help renters purchase a home.

Peterborough Renovates Program (PRP)

The Peterborough Renovates Program (PRP) provides a forgivable loan up to $25,000 for repairs such as roofing, plumbing, heating, foundations, wells, and septic systems. The forgivable loan can include a grant of up to $5,000 for modifications to reduce physical barriers such as ramps, handrails, chair or bath lifts, and countertop height adjustments due to accessibility requirements.

You must own your own home to apply for this program. The MPAC value of your home must be $600,000 or less.

Eligible applications will be considered for funding on a priority basis considering both income and the type of repair/modification.

The Program ends when funding has been allocated.

Email housing@peterborough.ca to request an application package for the PRP.

The upcoming project is located on Leahy's Lane in Peterborough. Visit their website at www.habitatpeterborough.ca/homeownership for more information about the process and to apply online.

Other tools and tips are on CMHC's Buying a Home website and through the First-time Home Buyer's Incentive through the National Housing Strategy incentives.
